Position: Direct Hire Mortgage Underwriter
Location: Lancaster, NY *This is not a remote position
Compensation: DOE
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm
Responsibilities:
- Perform duties related to the underwriting of Conventional, FHA and VA loans
- Accurately maintain the date integrity of the loan system
- Provide exceptional customer service
- Review documents to ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations
- Communicate with Borrowers, Consultants and internal associates
- Evaluate and approve/deny applications of a highly complex nature
- Complete thorough review and evaluation of the mortgage credit applications to assess product fit, pricing accuracy, compliance and risk
- Analyze appraisal to ensure collateral supports overall risk
- Analyze credit reports, income & asset verification’s and other required documentation
- Analyze loan packages for fraudulent activity
- Ensure that every loan decision meets investor guides
Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
- B.S in Business strongly preferred
- 2+ years of mortgage underwriting experience
- Must be proficient with MS Office programs
- Strong verbal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Able to work under tight deadlines
